As a leader in innovation, technology, and performance, we expect big things from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2019. From award-winning innovations in fuel efficiency and engine dynamics to new models, FCA is already poised to outdo itself this year. Here are a few of the biggest headlines coming in 2019.
FCA Sweeps Motor Trend Awards for 2019
For decades, Motor Trend has been the go-to source for the latest news and reviews for every corner of the world’s automotive industry. Each year, editors at Motor Trend pick their favorites from the industry and present annual awards to the leaders in design, performance, and value. For 2019, FCA stands on the shoulders of giants, winning a trifecta of accolades as Motor Trend’s 2019 SUV, Truck, and Person of the Year.
The 2019 Jeep® Wrangler has been named the “2019 SUV of the Year®,” and the RAM 1500 (pictured top) has been named the “2019 Truck of the Year®,” both receiving top marks for delivering class-leading capability on top of incomparable levels of technology and refinement. On top of those two astonishing wins, former FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne (pictured above, at podium) has been posthumously named Motor Trend’s “2019 Person of the year.”1
Sergio was a special leader who salvaged troubled Chrysler and Fiat, saving thousands of jobs across the globe. He was a man who did not do something unless he was convinced it would be successful. Sergio Marchionne got the work done and he left an indelible mark on the automotive industry.

RAM 1500 Doesn’t Quit
In addition to winning one of the industry's most coveted awards from Motor Trend, the all-new 2019 RAM 1500 is already racking up industry accolades for the new year. In its first year as a new generation, the RAM 1500 is receiving praise for every inch of its cutting-edge design and engineering.
The new RAM 1500 offers several engine options to meet the demands of a diverse customer base, and one of those engines has been named in the list of WardsAuto’s “10 Best Engines for 2019.”2 The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with eTorque is a mild-hybrid powertrain, so it utilizes a battery-powered electric motor in combination with its beefy gasoline engine to produce incredible power while also returning excellent fuel economy. To the delight of truck-drivers everywhere, this state-of-the-art engine produces as much as 305 horses and 269 lb-ft of torque, while still enjoying a responsible 25 mpg on the highway.3
The new RAM 1500 has barely hit the pavement, and it’s already been named as the “2019 Green Truck of the Year™” by Green Car Journal, thanks again to the unprecedented fuel savings of the eTorque powertrain mentioned above.4 In addition, the 2019 1500 has been named the TRUCK TREND® “2019 Pickup Truck of the Year,” with jurors concluding the 1500 sets “the gold standard of what to expect in regard to comfort and technology without giving up any of the functionality or utility of a truck.”5
Pacifica Gets In On The Action
In addition to the awards above, the 2019 RAM 1500 has been named a 2019 Consumer Guide® Automotive "Best Buy Award" winner along with another member of the talented FCA family: the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica (pictured above). For the third year in a row, the Pacifica wins two separate segments in the "Best Buy Awards," beating out the competition in both the Family Vehicle and Minivan categories. This marks the 11th straight year for the RAM 1500 winning the Large Pickup Truck category.6
As the winner of the Best Buy crown for the third year in a row, the Pacifica offers class-leading horsepower and fuel economy, excellent road manners and ride quality, and an unmatched array of family-friendly features … all wrapped up in a stylish package. With an excellent redesign for 2019, the Ram 1500 builds on the previous model’s considerable strength and offers an unbeatable ride/handling combination along with a high level of refinement, classy interiors and unique features.

New 2020 Jeep Gladiator Ahead of Its Time
Okay, so we may be jumping the gun a little, but we got our first glimpse of the forth-coming 2020 Jeep Gladiator (pictured below), a pick-up truck variant of the Wrangler that will soon be available for purchase, and this long-awaited model begins production this year and we can’t wait. The brand’s first pick-up truck since the infamous Jeep Comanche, the Gladiator will offer the Wrangler’s rugged good looks and indefatigability with an elongated open-top truck bed. Production begins in the first half of 2019 at the Toledo South Assembly Plant in Ohio, where Jeep models have rolled off the assembly line since the beginning of World War Two. FCA has added hundreds of new jobs and invested hundreds of millions of dollars in retooling the plant as part of a multi-billion dollar plan to realign FCA’s US manufacturing base for both Jeep and RAM products. Jeep fans can look forward to the Gladiator hitting showrooms in the second half of the year.
